June is winding down, and July is on the horizon—let’s shine bright and soar into summer’s peak!

Hello and Welcome, Summer!

I’m soaking up everything that summer brings—sunshine, warmth, time outdoors, and of course, hitting the golf course whenever I can. While it’s felt a bit more like monsoon season lately, I have faith that the old saying will hold true: the corn will be knee-high by the Fourth of July.

Lately, life has felt like I’m moving 100 mph... but only traveling a mile. Some days feel light and productive, while others are a bit heavier to carry.

One thing that has resonated with me over the past few weeks is the Caitlin Clark phenomenon. As someone born in Iowa (Go Badgers... and Hawkeyes), and a former high school basketball player, I’ve loved watching her journey unfold—especially the growth she’s shown over the past year. But more than her talent, it’s the conversation around her that’s made me think.

The idea of being targeted for being good at something hits deep. Why is it that we struggle to cheer for others in their greatness? Why do we sometimes isolate or criticize those who dare to stand out? They say it’s lonely at the top—but I don’t believe it has to be. Still, I’ve felt that loneliness. Over time, my circle has grown smaller, but I’ve come to fully embrace the idea that quality matters far more than quantity. And I know I’m not alone in that. I’m incredibly grateful for the small tribe I have.

While I’ll never condone violence, I did admire Sophie Cunningham’s bold support of Caitlin during a tough moment. It reminded me that standing up for others matters. That celebrating someone else’s light doesn’t dim our own.

So this month, I invite you to be the person who claps when others win. Be the one who reaches out. Who supports. Who says, “I see you. Keep going.”

Here’s to a summer full of growth—in the fields, in our homes, and within ourselves.

With gratitude,

📚 This Month’s Book Recommendation:

The Courage to Be Disliked: The Japanese Phenomenon That Shows You How to Change Your Life and Achieve Real Happiness

I’ll be honest—this month, I hit a bit of a reading slump. A few books didn’t quite land the way I’d hoped. But one that stuck with me was The Courage to Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga. It’s not your typical self-help read—it challenges the way we think about happiness, relationships, and personal freedom. It’s a conversation-driven book that invites you to see life differently and let go of the need for approval. If you’re in a season of self-reflection or simply want something that stirs your perspective, this one’s worth picking up.

🌱 In the Garden...and in Life

There’s something grounding about gardening—literally and figuratively. Whether you’re tending a few pots on the porch or digging into rows in a backyard plot, it’s a practice in patience, nurturing, and letting go of control. You can’t rush growth. You just keep showing up, watering, weeding, and trusting that the roots are doing their work. Kind of like life, right?  This time of year, my favorite things to grow (or at least try to grow) are veggies and herbs.  What about you? What’s thriving in your garden—or what lesson has it taught you lately? If your plants are looking a little tired or droopy, try watering them early in the morning. It helps reduce evaporation and gives them a better chance to soak in what they need before the sun is at its strongest. Bonus: it’s a peaceful way to start your day, coffee in hand. Sometimes we forget that rest is part of growth. Just like the soil needs time to replenish, so do we. If this summer feels busy or overwhelming, let this be your reminder to step back, breathe, and know that the quiet seasons are just as important as the blooming ones.

🍳Simple Summer Breakfast Hack

While I’m still working on getting enough protein in my day (without overcomplicating my mornings), I’ve officially entered my egg bake era. I make one on Sunday, and it’s slice-and-go all week long—easy, filling, and seriously delicious. I was a little hesitant about the cottage cheese (IYKYK), but honestly, you’d never know it’s in there. I skip the blender and just mix it in as-is. I also throw in about a cup of frozen hash browns, and let me tell you—it’s better than most breakfasts out. If you're looking for a way to simplify your mornings and stay fueled, this is worth trying.
